The Day We Start Chasing

What are we expecting out of our lives? What are we expecting from people in our lives? Do we ask for too much? Are we asking for too little?

Do we know what we are really here for?

There’s a qoute by Mark twain that says,

“The two most important days in our lives are the day we are born and the day we find out why”

Each day is like a search for self worth but I don’t believe that’s what God intended. He created us with the hope of knowing exactly who we are in Him and knowing our place even while on earth..

To embrace the love we have through Christ even if it’s undeserved. And to present that same love to the people we come into contact with daily.

But as humans.. Even if we don’t mean to.. We use each other and we hurt each other. We need to remember why we are here in the first place. Our purpose. To be salt and light in the world. To help things grow. To help bring the simple flavor of love to the world.

Even if we are far from family and surrounded by strangers. We are called to love each other. To forgive. To make right. To seek justice and love mercy.

Mercy and compassion is not a weakness. It’s the very thing that keeps some people together. When we survive on the idea of only the strong survive.. A survival of the fittest mindset.. We rely on anger. We rely on self preservation and ignore the very love that we were called to be intact with.

We become distructive.

But God has called us to build. And He knows every detail of us, and He does not miss a thing. He knows us. Better than we know ourselves. So we shouldn’t let our instincts over step our reasoning. It’s a chase.. Finding out why we are born is the outcome. The day we start chasing is the day we figure it all out.

“Therefore I, a prisoner for serving the Lord, beg you to lead a life worthy of your calling, for you have been called by God. Always be humble and gentle. Be patient with each other, making allowance for each other’s faults because of your love. Make every effort to keep yourselves united in the Spirit, binding yourselves together with peace.”  Ephesians‬ ‭4:1-3‬ ‭NLT‬‬

What Looks Good to Me

What are we hiding from? What are we avoiding? We come up with these lies and excuses as to why bad situations or messes we get ourselves in are present still.

I’m guilty for shutting truth out. I’m notorious for ignoring wisdom and saying “no this way is better.” But everything starts to look good when we keep our eyes closed..

I’m also known to shut my self away from things that are good for me.

Life changes. Relationships. Sacrifices etc.

But we become afraid of change and the unknown. Well what happens when I say no to this? Or what happens if I say yes to this?

We know our environments so well so it’s no surprise that we don’t want to acknowledge anything else that comes out different.

If all you’ve known is a bad situation then all you’ll ever expect and want is a bad situation. And if you’re constantly shutting out what’s good you’ll never know exactly the kind of life you’re missing.

What’s your niche like? Where’s your comfort zone? Does it grow? Or does it stay the same and even shrink?

See it’s not about breaking away from your comfort zone.. It’s about expanding your comfort level. How can you do that if you never try anything?

“But everything starts to look good when we keep our eyes closed.”

Place Your Bookmark

You ever been so caught up in a story you have to wait until you’re in a good spot to hit pause or place your bookmark?

Well I finally got the time to place my bookmark…

I know it’s been a while since I have written anything, and I apologize..

It took a fall.. It took a risk that would either make me or break me.. But I know where to place my bookmark now. And that’s HERE.

Sometimes you just need to pause.

You need to rest and give yourself the time to make sense of the world around you. There is no sin in love. There is no such thing as caring too much or loving too hard.

Do you run the risk of getting hurt? You always will when it comes to love. But the beauty of Gods love is you can always be certain that even if we get knocked down, He is always there to pick us back up again and brush the dust off.

You can’t always think clearly in the heat of a moment. You make decisions that seem to make sense now, but then go south later. Slow down. Because in that moment that it does go South you will be tempted to shut down.

Your heart and soul will ache and you will feel like nothing could possibly bring you back to a place of peace and assurance…

Listen, place your bookmark THERE. In that moment of hurt and confusion. In the middle of tragedy OR triumphs. Place your bookmark. Pause. Reflect. Remember who God is. Remember that He holds tomorrow.

“A woman is like a tea bag; you won’t know how strong she is until you put her in hot water.”  -Eleanor Rosevelt

Sometimes things fall short to show us how strong we really are. Or to remind us where our integrity and our standards lie.

Don’t lose hope. And don’t lose the friction, the fire that God put inside you when you get hurt. Get back up and keep going. Pause. Reflect. Place your bookmark. Remember that it’s okay to walk away if it means it’s better for your happiness, your faith and your goals in life. Don’t let anyone try to take that right away from you. It’s your right to walk away. And I know that God will be by your side with each decision, helping you through them all.
